Five mates from Adelaide
All Absurd are a five-piece alternative-rock band from Adelaide, South Australia — vocals, guitars, bass, sax and drums. It started with school mates Jack and Patrick, trading chords on acoustic guitars while living on the other side of the world in London. When they came home with a folder full of songs, they found the rest of the lineup through mates of mates and started playing rooms around town.
The songs sit in the in-between: not a kid anymore, not quite an adult either. Longing, loss, anxiety, anger and melancholy all get a look in — usually with a sax solo not far behind.
It's been a big year. "Parallel Lines" placed fifth in Adelaide's Sickest 100 on WOW FM, and "Almost" and "Turn Off The Telly" have become staples of the live set since. They opened for Perth surf-rockers Lazy Haze on the Adelaide leg of their Coast 2 Coast tour, and now they're gearing up for their biggest release yet: debut EP "Hurdles," out October 28, led by single "Salt At The Door" on October 7 and mixed by Lucinda Machin of The Tullamarines. It'll take them interstate for the first time, to Melbourne's Nighthawk on December 10.
